12th International Yoga Day
Embracing the timeless adage, "Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to
the self,” St. Agnes PU College, Mangaluru, marked the 12th International Yoga Day
with a spirit of mindfulness and collective well-being for 1st and 2nd PUC students.
The proceedings commenced with a serene invocation by Manishka and Laasya,
followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of
ignorance through the light of knowledge.
The Chief Guest, Sri Eknath Baliga, President of Pratishthana Samiti, delivered an
insightful keynote on the 2026 theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” He underscored
yoga as a holistic discipline that cultivates physical resilience, mental equanimity,
and emotional balance amidst academic pressures. He was joined by distinguished
yoga instructors Smt. Purnima Shetty and Smt. Vinutha, who, through Pratishthana
Samiti, have been selflessly imparting yogic wisdom free of cost to the community.
The highlight was a dynamic 45-minute practical session led by the expert
instructors. Beginning with preparatory warm-ups, students gracefully performed
asanas including Vrikshasana, Baddhakonasana, and Trikonasana, culminating in the
restorative Shavasana. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation, reflecting the
students’ receptiveness to mindful living.
Gauri eloquently compered the event, Yashoda extended a warm welcome, and
Hrithik expressed gratitude through the vote of thanks.
Mrs. Jayashree, Physical Director, and Mrs. Chaithanya, Lecturer in Physics
convened the program with meticulous coordination, while Principal Sr. Norine
D'Souza graced the occasion with her presence.
