Varshadhareya Pairinagaladalli
Under the Agno Angels banner, St Agnes PU College students embarked on a
unique experience titled "Varshadhareya Pairinagaladalli".
A group of 24 first and second PUC students, accompanied by three faculty
members, visited a paddy field owned by Mrs. Letitia Sequeira and her son, Mr.
John Sequeira, at Permai, Padu Panchayat.
The hands-on experience in the paddy field taught the students about the challenges
faced by farmers. As they worked amidst the rain, they learned valuable lessons
about cooperation and coordination. Mr. Sequeira shared insights into the farming
profession, highlighting the importance of teamwork.
The Sequeira family, both retired educators, showcased their passion for farming, an
ancestral profession. Mr. Donald Cutinha facilitated the collaboration between the
college and the Sequeira family, guiding the students in planting paddy saplings.
Mrs. Sequeira's warm welcome created a sense of belonging, and she shared her
experiences on farming, healthy diet, and love for nature. She also expressed
concerns about the younger generation's attitude towards work. The students
enjoyed traditional rain-season food provided by the Sequeira and Cutinha family.
Dr. Tressie Menezes delivered the vote of thanks, and student Ms. Yukta compèred
the program.
